The Barnstable Youth Soccer Association (BYSA) Travel soccer program is a competitive soccer program affiliated with the South Coast Soccer League (SCSL). Our Travel program offers players a unique opportunity, beyond that of Instructional soccer, for player development and competition in a statewide system of age-level play. The SCSL is a competitive league with the goal of promoting the game of soccer in a competitive environment.
The underlying goals of each Travel season are to:
- Increase each players skill and knowledge of the game.
- Build on team tactics and strategy.
- Keep the game fun and safe for all involved with an emphasis on good sportsmanship.
The BYSA Travel program is made up of a Fall and Spring season. The Fall season starts in September and finishes in November, with the Spring season starting in April and finishing in June. The Fall season consists of a six week regular season, with three home games and three away games. The Spring season is a n eight week season with an equal number of home and away games
Home games are held at anavailable Barnstable field. Away games are held both on Cape and off, depending on league participation by other youth soccer organizations. Games are primarily held on Saturday, with Sunday games sometimes being scheduled by the League in the event of a prior game cancellation or postponement due to weather or adverse field conditions.
BYSA Travel teams also hold two team practices each week. The day and time of team practices are set by each individual Travel coach, based on the availability of the coach and of the players
SCSL affiliated Travel programs are suitable for U9-U14 players, with the minimum grade level being Grade 3 or approximately eight years of age. Teams are based on age appropriateness set forth by the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association, as well as by grade level.
